Born Elizabeth Rosemond Taylor on February 27, 1932 in Hampstead Garden Suburb, London, Taylor became the highest paid actress in history when she agreed a fee of $1,000.000 to star as Cleopatra.

In 1969 Richard Burton acquired for his bride the 69.42-carat, pear-shaped Burton-Taylor diamond.
